Final Phase of Reno

Ok, since Eileen, YL and Jan were asking about the lift system from Blum. Here is the picture of the system itself.



This system itself will stop the glass door at anytime when you let go :) It also closes softly. Just a gadget lah...I am so always into such gadgets :p

Here are my S4 drawers. top drawer can carry the weight up to 30kg, and bottom can carry the weight up to 50kg.

My small pantry went up :) my Blum tandembox. I ordered 2 sizes :) Loving it so much! Waiting for my lift system to be up too!!!

Indeed exciting to see the transformation of the house, but the reality of packing...I better not think about it now!

Reno Progress After 3 Weeks

The progress has been slow. Inital handover (HO) date supposed to be this month end, we had postponed for it another 2 weeks as I do not want to rush them and compromise on the works.

My full Blum kicthen is not possible as the carpenter said, other systems were just as good. To fulfill part of my vanity, he agreed on some blum and tandembox.

Finally...

The wall can be hacked! Hack! Hack! Hack!!!

In fact when we were house shopping, we ever considered getting a condo somewhere in the east. As property prices were sliding, it seems a good time for us to get a private property.

However, the fact that I love having a stair in our house and really loved Masionette, thus we decided to get a mansionette.

The wall can be hacked, meaning my nice pebble wash entrance, shoe cabinet and seatee, a water feature can all be materialised!!!

Cool! Will try to fill this space with more pics :)

Updates on Reno

It has been a long while since I updated on my house reno works.

This is going to be the 3rd week, the attempt by my nice and popular contractor uncle to speed up is futile when this HDB decided to hold the approval for like almost a month! Sigh...with that wall still there, not knowing to hack or not to hack, my tiling works has to come to a standstill. In other words, my tiling works has bottle necked!

Anyways, here are some of the updates of the pictures for the past few days.

Well, I also had some buys...bought the Grohe shower for the kiddos and Mom. This is gonna be their "luxury" during shower as they do not have a rain shower in the bathroom they share :)

Dead Tired

My eyelids are heavy...rushing up and down from office/home to our new place to monitor the progress of the renovation is not easy.

Basically it is a job that I had to do, else things will be stagnant as Hubby is quite passive for most things. I am the one arranging for the various people to meet, sourcing and calling for quotes for my roller shutter as the one my contractor helped to source was too expensive.

I had fixed the aircon installation. Tiling should start next week, and carpentary confirmation shall also be next week...so busy ahead of me. I am struggling. I hate to compromise on the kids' time; however I didn't have much of a choice here.

I wish I had a big cosy bed in front of me, lie down and let me sleep for 12 straight hours...

This is only the first week, I still have about 5 more weeks to go...

A symbolic start of renovation is on 25 April, and work shall commence on 27 april!!! So exciting!!

Yippee!!

Well, I can update this post because I am already in a holiday mood!!!

We will collect our keys to the new abode in another FOUR days! How exciting! Even though this is our second house, we are still like the school kids, busied ourselves with the search for furnishings etc. Indeed a tiring chore, we spent our weekends doing all the shopping and even little girl complained about us lacking in bringing her out for activities like swimming and cycling!

I am sorry baby, we shall resume after we settle in our new house ya?!

Hubby and I are doing different things. He basically is still very much in his lala-land, I am in the midst of finalizing my design concept for the house!

I let him made decisions for some of the lightings for the house…in the end he asked me for my opinions. So, I have decided, I will choose and just buy what I like! It saves me the hassle.

We are bent to train the kids to sleep in their shared room this time. We really are tired and seriously lack of rest because the kids bunk with us on the same bed (I suffer more because I am the one in between the kids and my Ethyl can really kick and punch, while Brayden uses his head to knock me!!)! I am already trying to visualize sleeping on our King sized bed and dreaming on it…

This weekend we will have many shopping to do. This time we will be poorer by at least a few thousand bucks in a day! Economy not good, but why are things still so expensive?!

What We Bought To-Date

We went Mayer to get a cooker hob, hood and as a bonus, Hubby got me an oven! Thanks Hubbby *muacks*!

I had loved Ariston's hobs for a while...Hubby obliged and we went hob hunting at IMM last evening! Ariston's PH 930 MST - Tre IX a 3-cooker hob. We gave up an induction hob as we felt that it may not be really useful in our case.

For our hood, we opted for Delizia DZH 519 and top up the balance. This hood is a high performer and both Mom and Hubby loves it...grab it! Though I prefer another one, I gave in because....he got me an oven!
Ariston's FZ 61.1 IX. Though I could have gotten another higher range one, I chose to "save" money and compromise with this. *smiles* This also means I have to bake more for them.

Till date, we have also gotten ourselves mattress from Sealy. The kids also had their bed frames, mattresses, and an additional rollaway bed and matteress. Hubby insisted on having a 3rd mattress for the kids(?!). Pretty redundant and a waste of money I thought.

Now, we need to start shopping for sinks, basins, rain shower, taps, toilet bowls, lightings etc! Sofa and dining table shall be later when the reno starts.

Nest week, we'll join the islanders to comb through the IT show for a new TV, home theatre system, desktop and a new laptop for myself! I love Sony's Vaio for a while already. Let's see what's the deal there! I need a light weight lappy to lug around as I can use it while waiting for Ethyl to end her enrichment classes or even swimming lessons!

We are getting our keys to the new flat in the first half of april. Quite exciting! Can't wait to start the reno!

It's the Closet

A little post on the search of stuff for our new home. Closet is really important and I am particular for my wardrobe. This time, I really prefer a modular wardrobe.

Today, we went Expo and I saw this Closet Design having promo. It is $2000 nett inclusive GST for a 8ft modular. I almost signed up for it on impulse! But for 3 rooms, a total of $6000, I think I need to give it some thoughts.

Am now in the midst of checking some info on IDs and contractors. ID would save me from alot of hassle in terms of planning, which means I will pay them more too. Contractors I need to coordinate. I am still discussing with Hubby and we'll see how things goes.

We are going for our 1st appointment this Friday. So exciting!

Our New Home in the East

Here's our floor plan to our new home! The area is 154sqm and I love it cos it is a corner unit too!

Had been planning for the renovation for our new house. Doing research on the types of materials, getting quotes from various IDs and a contractor so far.

All these ground work were actually tedious for me especially when work is so busy.

I did not manage to get any pictures during our 2 viewings, the only pictures of the house I have is just photos from our valuation report, and the lazy me simply took the pictures and upload for convenience sake.

This is the old fashion kinda kitchen with full length cabinets. I am going to revamp the whole kitchen to a modern and functional look!

MBR is just as boring...we'll convert it to a modern yet stylish look! The romantic factor has to be thrown in too! Look at that door! Geesh...I hate that shape and going to convert it back to it's original.
Above is the recess area. It is spacious enough for me to do what I have in my mind for ages! Everything's gonna go off here too!

Toilets are a must go including the balcony and study too!

Major works evolved around the lower floor. The parquet flooring is very well maintained thus I am cutting our reno cost and will just do a polish.

The only thing that stays other than the floorings are the stairs railings. So far the quotes were pretty reasonable for an EM, and we are going to pay more attention to the details of the quotes. I hope Hubby can be of a better help in this as I am really overstretched from the current projects on hand.
